Caracal

  • Characteristic features
    The caracal has a shorthaired reddish fur. The slender ears have long black hair tufts on the top. Females weigh up to 15 kg and males can reach a weight up to 19 kg.

  • Special characteristics
    To catch low flying birds the caracal is capable to jump out of stand up to 3m high.

  • Food
    Caracals live on birds, hares, mongooses, small gazelles, carrions and also sheep; which causes anger from the farmers.

  • Life expectancy
    A caracal can reach an age of 18 years.
