Mongoose

  • Characteristic features
    These animals have a grey fur with a striped back. Their length can reach up to 30-45cm. The male animals have a weight of 400 to 900g, the females weigh between 350 to 500g.

  • Special characteristics
    Yellow mongooses live in family groups of 10 to 40 members.

  • Hunting
    Being known as day hunters they occupy territories in the size of 40-400 ha.

  • Food
    They eat small rodents, reptiles, birds, insects, spiders, scorpions, frogs and small vertebrates.

  • Enemies
    Their enemies are big predators, jackals and hyenas.

  • Life expectancy
    Yellow mongooses can age up to 10-13 years.
