Characteristic features These animals have a grey fur with a striped back. Their length can reach up to 30-45cm. The male animals have a weight of 400 to 900g, the females weigh between 350 to 500g.
Special characteristics Yellow mongooses live in family groups of 10 to 40 members.
Hunting Being known as day hunters they occupy territories in the size of 40-400 ha.
Food They eat small rodents, reptiles, birds, insects, spiders, scorpions, frogs and small vertebrates.
Enemies Their enemies are big predators, jackals and hyenas.
Life expectancy Yellow mongooses can age up to 10-13 years.
