Gqaina Primary School
Gqaina Primary School has been instrumental in promoting the San people’s culture and self-worth. In 1979, it had it first beginning under a big tree as the name Gqaina indicates in the San language. Adopting a kid means supporting them, their family and the school. Here are our formal school going kids presently attending Gqaina Primary School.
Our Grade 1’s
Maria AxasI belong to a family of five. My parents live and work here on Harnas. My dad has his own vehicle, well – the four legged kind: a horse cart. I’m kind of quiet but smiling and being friendly is second nature to me. |

Lisa GouMy dad is an animal caretaker. He is really good with baboons. My mom is assisting in keeping the lodges spic and span. I’m very shy. Going to big school is not always easy but I’m glad Martha, my cousin is with me! |

Martha GouI am very eager to learn. My mother, Maria helps at the Cheeky Cheetah Pre-school and my Dad is very good with horses. We are a family of six. |

Grade 2
Nanna PaulusLast year was very difficult but now school is much better. Samar is my best playmate when I’m home. My Mom’s name is Kasoep. It means ‘short’ in San. She has adopted me and looks after me like I’m her very own. We are a family of three. Nienna is my sister. |

Goeie Hoop Primary School
This school is much closer to us, mostly surrounded by a Hero Community. It has been operating since 1967.
Grade 1
Nienna AntonMy brother’s name is Nanna. I’m very quiet with a shy smile. My Mom has been part of the Harnas family for many years. She helps Mariette a lot. I’m in a big school with more than 500 kids. |
