Flights & Transport
Airport destination
Flights should be booked to arrive at Windhoek International Airport, Namibia.
Please be aware of the fact that if you travel through Johannesburg there is a risk of late luggage arrival. Should your luggage not arrive with you, it will be transported to Harnas as soon as it arrives in Windhoek. As a precaution we do recommend you to pack a small bag (hand luggage) with the basics.
We recommend all our guests and volunteers to fly with our proud supporter: Air Namibia.

Transport to Harnas
You will be met by a Harnas representative at Windhoek International Airport. Please look for someone holding a sign which reads ‘Harnas Wildlife Foundation.’
If for any reason you find yourself “abandoned” after waiting for a reasonable period of time, please ensure you take with you the number of Harnas Farm + 264 (0)62 568828
The project ALWAYS starts on a FRIDAY. That means that on Friday a transport picks up the volunteers in Windhoek to bring them to Harnas where they will be introduced to the volunteer project.
We ask all volunteers to arrive BEFORE Friday as the bus leaves between 9:00 and 10:00 am
There will be a stop in Gobabis to refuel, use the toilets and have a drink or small meal. Although the journey is only 300km it can take several hours due to stops, pick ups and drop offs before you arrive on the farm.
If your flight arrives before the program starts, Harnas can arrange accommodation with your booking. Should any volunteers be extending their stay in Namibia after the Harnas volunteer project, they will be responsible for organizing accommodation on their own.
The transport back from Harnas to the airport is ALWAYS on a THURSDAY!
